WHY HYPNOSIS?
The purpose of hypnosis with a hypnotist is to help relieve stress, sleep better, stop overeating, quit smoking, gain confidence, prepare for exams, improve athletic ability....
It's safe, enjoyable and RELAXING! Hypnosis sessions can help utilize an individuals own amazing, innate ability to heal themselves physically, mentally and spiritually.
Within us we have our own healing abilities. But the dilemma is that in a busy, modern world it is too easy to get caught up in the fast pace of life and we deprive ourselves of proper rest and relaxation time that we need so much for our bodies. Stress in small quantities can be healthy but when it overwhelms us it becomes dangerous. The mind meanwhile searches for ways to cope with the stress, which can lead to unhealthy habits like overeating, smoking...which can cause further detriment to the body....
So amongst quite a few purposes behind doing hypnosis, is to one, retrain your mind to break unwanted habits and remove irrational fears and insecurities...
Hypnosis can be thought of as a process of communication between the conscious and subconscious mind, either by self-hypnosis or with help from a hypnotist. So to further explain the functions and roles behind these two major areas of our brains: the conscious part of our mind is used for decision-making, analysis, short-term memory, long-term memories and will power. It has both critical thinking capabilities and self- limitation of being , whereby subject to beliefs about a person's identity which may or may not be true.
The subconscious mind is used for regulation, the body's automatic behaviors of survival, such as controlling breathing, fight or flight responses in response to fear or stress, aspects of blood pressure, digestive and other physical functions that free the conscous mind for decision-making....Habits of thinking tend to be taken over by the sub-conscious mind. Certain patterns of fear/stress associated with past traumatic experiences, have been imprinted as part of a fight or flight syndrome. Sometimes the sub-conscious mind can learn a habit of pain that no longer serves the individuals situation or reality.
Hypnosis is a process of focused attention, relaxation, and guided imagery. It leads to an altered state of consciousness, much like what occurs naturally when we daydream. Hypnosis works by achieving a cetain state of mind. The brainwave state of mind for hypnosis is alpha brainwave state which opens the bridge to the subconscious mind whereby powerful changes can be made.
While in the state of hypnosis, the subconscious mind becomes open to imagining changes in behavior that support the goals that a client has identified while conscious. This process of alligning subconscious and conscious thinking patterns can lead to lasting changes in self-esteem and behavior. The reduction in stress can also result in other positive changes in the body's immune system and ability to heal rapidly.
